The weeks activites... or lack of

This blog I think is going to be a round up of things I've done since the start of October!

I started the month off by seeing one of THE WORST films I have ever sat through. Grown Ups. No doubt many people have observed that it should be called Groan Ups simply because the humour and plot are so obvious it makes you want to hurl abuse at the screen. We did not however do this as we are British of course and do so would be uncouth. It is the 2nd worst film I have ever seen at the cinema, the worst being another Adam Sandler movie, Unfunny People. Dreadful and please I urge you avoid both films unless you also wish to hate Adam Sandler as much as I do!

My weekend got much better though and I saw the lovely Mumford & Sons at the Apollo on Saturday night! Fan-Bloody-Tastic! Loved their album since the first time I'd heard it (and maybe listened to it a bit toooo much...) and they were wonderful live. For the encore, they stripped back all the mics and amps and just played without any technology - it was a brave move that took the audience some time to acclimatise to the change in volume but the result was breathtaking! I sooo hope they are at Glastonbury (but not in the stupid John Peel Tent!)

On Monday night I saw Dr. Faustaus at the Royal Exchange Theatre. Now that was a strange experience. It was very well produced, and well acted but just a bit strange! It was incredibly dramatic, and I did get a bit anxious that I might jump out of my seat at times, but it was also a bit too long for my tastes and that was felt especially during the final soliquay which seemed to go on for hours! Still, I really enjoyed myself and will definitely be going there again, such an unusual theatre!

Last week I also started my training for a voluntary job post I'm taking up volunteering for Action for Sustainable Living as an Assistant Project Leader! I don't know what project I'll be working on yet but it's already opened my eyes to 'greener' ways of living. I'll be reporting back when I know more I guess! The website is: http://www.afsl.org.uk/ and is full of environmental events around Manchester and Trafford that I'm hopefully going to check out too!

The weekend just gone was partly spent in front of the TV - 4 and half hours worth of reality TV on Saturday night nearly killed me off, and in Ikea where I finally made an exec decision on some bedroom furniture that is currently lying in parts on our bedroom floor. (We're having to work up to actually putting it together...)

And that I think is that for this week!

PS - I'm going to add a different blog that includes a couple of new recipes I tried this week that I highly recommend!

Here I go again....

Today I have mostly been cold. Cold in bed. Cold waiting for the bus. Cold in work. Cold on the way home from work. And cold now. At home. On my computer.

I wish I could relate a metaphor from that to express how I'm feeling inside but to tell the honest truth I'm not feeling cold at all! I'm feeling positive, bright, energetic even! It's been a good day! I've not achieved anything mega-important.. I've not saved the world.. I've not cured cancer.. I haven't even called my Mum! But I have started to organise the work Xmas do (heaven help me now..) and gone to an extremely hardcore boxing class! I felt like I was in a J-Lo movie or something boxing at myself in the mirror whilst some short angry dude is shouting in my ear! That tactic works though.. I've never worked harder and so what if my back feels incredibly stiff I will become J-Lo... if only to my eyes!

Also worth mentioning that the boy cooked spaghetti and meatballs for tea whilst I did... nothing. sweet f-a. What a good feeling that is!

As I said nothing to complain about. Heating will no doubt be fixed in due time but until then I'm just not gonna let this cold get me down!

Right off to call my Mum.. she deserves it! X

Eeeek. First blog

So this is going to be lame attempt at a first blog. Created purely out of boredom, the boyfriend has a guitar-playing hobby and I have.... ummm.... an ability to.... ummmm.... you get the picture! Guess I'm just gonna slowly divulge little bits about myself online to amuse myself and indulge in sharing things that I love about life!

By the way I looked through the pictures on my iPhone (yes I'm one of the annoying iPhone people!) and have realised the theme is generally food.. so expect that to proportionally represent itself over time.

Today I :
  • Applied to be a Local Project Manager for Action for Sustainable Living - just a volunteer role but something I would genuinely like to get into further.
  • Cooked two pasta dishes in record speed - don't ask!
  • Watched Gossip Girl Season 4 start on ITV2 - enjoyable start to the series but no thriller.
  • Cleaned the bathroom - YES!!!!! Well done me!

I think 4 positive actions a day is quite sufficient for me! It's about the small steps right?! Oh and I also learnt that one of my fave 'chill-out' songs, Dancing In The Moonlight - Magnet, is actually a cover of a Thin Lizzy song! Felt a bit embarrassed but still love the cover so don't care! Love Magnet's cover of Bob Dylan's Lay Lady Lay too but I did realise that wasn't an original!

Oh and a 5th positive action: This blog! -- Enjoy!
